Joanne in South Yorkshire contacted us looking for help for her father Bryan and his lifelong quest to find his father. These are her words.
“After 82 years of my father Bryan not knowing who his father was, Louise at Finding Families was able to solve the mystery for us and now we have a new family.
“My father Bryan was born illegitimate with no father named on his birth certificate. Over the years my father had heard his mother worked in Bradford, became pregnant and returned to her home town near Rotherham. He had a happy childhood believing his grandparents were his parents but at 17 he was told the truth. The years passed and my father had one regret; that he had never summoned up the courage to discuss his father whilst his mother was alive.
“I encouraged my father to take a DNA test to see if it gave any possible leads, it did but we had no idea how to interpret the data. By chance I stumbled upon Louise’s website and after a quick chat, I was convinced that finally my father’s one regret in life would be laid to rest.
“Within 5 days Louise produced a detailed report which concluded with the name of my grandfather, which was Maurice. After Bryan was born, Maurice went on to have 3 children and with Louise’s help we have been able to contact them. They have all been wonderful and Dad plans to meet them as soon as we are able. Thanks to Louise my father now not only knows his father’s name (which is more than he hoped for) but also has 2 half brothers and a half sister. They have been able to tell my father about Maurice and we have discovered how much they had in common. We couldn’t have done this without Louise, and I would like not only to thank her but encourage anyone out there in need of answers to contact her, a lovely lady who really does love helping people.
I’ve attached a photograph of my father and Maurice at a similar age and we hope to meet our new found family soon.
