After almost 2 years of trying to find my biological father with no material information whatsoever apart from knowing I was born in Calabar, Nigeria and that my Dad was certainly a foreigner, I reached out to several people and organizations across several countries. Still, I had nothing to show for my effort. In August 2023, precisely 24 hours after my first email to Finding Families UK (one of the many organizations I found online and contacted), one Louise Baldock replied to my email. We exchanged a few emails afterwards and I shared my DNA results which I had received from AncestryDNA a few months earlier. Within 48 hours of my first email, Louise wrote back to share that she had identified my paternal uncle (although he had since passed away) and my cousin (his daughter). Three weeks later, still through Louise and with the magnanimity of my cousin, I found my Dad although he is no longer alive. That Louise is incredibly good at what she does is an understatement. She is also very professional, and her empathy is out of this world. I had to send Louise a few reminders to send her invoice, which by the way, is very affordable. Even when my bank messed up the payment, she was incredibly patient until it got rectified. Louise helped me find closure, I wish I could put a price tag on it. It is priceless. I’ve since connected with a few more cousins on my paternal side. It still feels surreal. I am forever grateful to Louise.
