I asked Louise at Finding Families to identify my unknown grandfather using DNA.
This week I met with cousins for the first time. All down to Louise and her fabulous DNA tracing skills.
It was very emotional and wonderful. They welcomed me with open arms, literally. Lots of hugging and tears, a great instant bond. They were delighted that I contacted them and said my getting in touch had brought them all closer together again too. Is it weird that I feel part of them, and that we love each other? Interestingly, I also discovered that Muriel, my mother’s eldest sister was bossy and determined and my husband laughed when they described her, he said they were describing me! (It’s true). Lots of uncanny similarities right through the family. I can’t tell you how happy and complete it has made me feel.
